Someone asked Master Cheng Yen, "How to be a good wife?"
The Master answered:
As long as you have played your role as a wife, you should not have any complaints if you understand that all those are your duty. Only wives who are unclear about their duties would complain.
The person asked further, "If he is wrong? Should I still tolerate him?"
The Master answered:
He knows what is right and what is wrong. The mistake was committed due to his inability to control his emotions. As his wife, you are not tolerating him; you are just letting him be. He was unintentional and inferior when he made the mistake. It would help if you let him calm down and slowly communicate with him later.
