Someone asked Master Cheng Yen, “Master, what is your plan for your life?”

The Master answered:

I have a lofty aim, but I am still mindful of every second in the present moment. If one could hold on to one’s thoughts in the present moment, one would not become lax or confused, nor would one commit wrongdoings or say the wrong words.

Buddha said, “It is difficult to see one’s nature and learn the path” because people are often not mindful of their present thoughts. In conclusion, learning the path is not difficult if one can be mindful of their present thoughts and thoroughly understand one’s innate nature.
