The World is so Beautiful

Life can be blissful if people can live in harmony with one another, in a conducive and comfortable environment, and with a heart that is at peace.

"As the sun rises early in the morning, take a look at the flowers and rich, lush greenery of grass and trees.  Listen to the distinct and rhythmic chirping of the birds and the frogs croaking. This is such a beautiful realm, and the world is in harmony!" said Master Cheng Yen during the early morning dharma service.

Life can be blissful if people could live in harmony with one another, the environment is conducive and comfortable, and the heart is at peace. However, there are still many people who do not cherish the good times. Instead, they often get into disputes with others, and their hearts never feel contented with what they already have. All these negative thoughts and emotions that arise in our minds would only lead us to more problems and troubles both now and in the future. In fact, if people put more effort into changing their attitude by being less self-centred, less grasping and more detached, they will gain more in life. Just as the saying goes, “Take a step back, and there will be a bigger world in front of you”. People often want to be the winner in any argument or conflict. Still, even if people win an argument in such a way that the other person is left feeling humiliated or bitter, this will only further deteriorate the relationship.

The more people retaliate, the more harm will be done to their relationships with anyone. Therefore, when dealing with others, one does not have to reason about everything. As long as one can tolerate and live with it, one can live a blissful and peaceful life.
