Bringing Medical Care to Sri Lanka's Underserved Communities
In Singapore, seeing a doctor and getting medication is something many take for granted. But for villagers in rural Sri Lanka, access to healthcare is far from easy. Despite having a free public healthcare system, many people living in Sri Lanka's rural communities still struggle to access timely medical treatment due to a shortage of specialists and limited medical supplies.
To help bridge this gap, a total of 170 Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) members and Tzu Chi volunteers from Singapore and Taiwan crossed borders to serve in a free clinic, bringing healthcare, relief, and heartfelt compassion to those in need.
