Italian Interpreter Bridges Language Gaps at Tzu Chi Free Clinic
Where does it hurt? What medication is taken every day, and at what dosage? When seeing a doctor, being able to clearly communicate one’s symptoms and medication history helps healthcare professionals better understand the patient’s condition and provide the right treatment. But for villagers in rural Sri Lanka, where Sinhala is the main language spoken, communicating with doctors from overseas can be challenging. During Tzu Chi’s free medical clinic in Sri Lanka, 82 interpreters stepped forward to bridge the language gap, helping the medical team better understand patients and making the clinic run more smoothly.
