The Future Colour of Earth is in Our Hands
In celebration of World Earth Day, five pre-schools of the Singapore People's Action Party (PAP) Community Foundation (PCF) jointly organised an environmental awareness campaign, inviting Tzu Chi volunteers to join in. A miniature model of Earth brought by the volunteers attracted the attention of children and adults alike. The bicycle that they rode to keep the lights of the model on made everyone realise that if we do not step up our efforts to protect the environment, the lights of Earth will similarly be extinguished. Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, was also present to soak in the fun with the public.
In celebration of World Earth Day, five pre-schools of the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) co-organised an environmental awareness campaign. Tzu Chi volunteers were invited to be part of the campaign to raise public awareness about environmental protection.
Member of Public, Ye Lin Thu: Can know more details about how to save our Earth, (So what can we do?) We follow the refuse, reduce, reuse, repair and recyle, especially refuse, what is not necessary, we don’t buy. If we can teach the new generation how to save the Earth, maybe we can prevent the bad condition for Earth.
The Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, had a hands-on experience to light up the Earth. The harder you step, the brighter the lights will be, with the reverse also true, showing that we should never slacken on environmental education and implementation.
Member of public, RM. Muthamil Muthu: The most important thing for Earth Day is to reduce the non-recyclables, the Earth is now half dark and very polluted, we want to clean the pollution.
Tzu Chi volunteer, Liw See Kew: If we just do the 3Rs and resource sorting, it is not enough, we must start from the source, reduce our desires, environmental protection is a daily effort where every second counts, for every action, we must ask ourselves if we are being environmentally friendly.

Environmental consciousness must be high at all times, and the colour of the Earth in the future will depend on human awareness and action at this moment.
